Lauren visiting in CA
May and June were wonderful months spending time with family. We flew Lauren out 2 weeks after Matt’s HS graduation and she was in California for 2 weeks. She stayed with us for 5 days then we drove her to the Bay Area to stay with Grammie for the remainder of her trip. She had a blast with sleep overs and bonding with her cousins.
While Lauren was with us we went bowling, girl shopping, went to lunch and a movie, open trampoline, played games, made a scrapbook, and went for some nice walks.
Papa showed Lauren some card tricks and she was amazed… just look at the expressions on her face.
Sky Zone is so much fun and great exercise, we had a blast. The woman that took the picture of the 2 of us thought I was Lauren’s mother… LOL.
Lauren wanted to surprise her Mother with a scrapbook of their lives, so we spent hours going through a bunch of photos. We put them in chronological order, sized & cropped them, printed, and cut them… that was a job in itself. Here is the front of the memory book.
Lauren really put a lot of thought into the book and it turned out really good. Here are a couple of pages from earlier years when they were kids. The book had about 18 pages total. She journaled and added embellishments to decorate.
Father’s Day in Morgan Hill 2014
We celebrated Father’s Day in Morgan Hill. I didn’t take very many pictures because it was a very busy and interesting day to say the least. Everyone was enjoying the day until little Alex had an accident… see the last picture of his missing teeth!
The kids were playing in the house when we heard this blood curdling scream. Alex had tripped and fell straight into the corner of the coffee table. His parents rushed him to a children’s dentist. He lost one baby tooth which we never found and the other was pushed back so far that the dentist had to extract it. This is Alex after returning from the dentist with a balloon in hand and all smiles. He is a tough little kid for sure!!
The kids love making crafts, so I had the counter ready to go for them. Besides some bigger crafts, there were lots of drawings, cutting, and hangers for their doors. Their first project was a bird cage and they did a really good job. They are made from Egg Beater cartons and I just painted them. The roof is made from a file folder. The boys decorated them with markers, leaves, a bird, a butterfly, and twigs that we got from the yard.
Taking a bath every night in Vovo’s big bathtub with lots of bubbles is always a hit.
What’s with the gloves dude??? It was 95 degrees outside! Check out the sweat mark on his pillow, and that’s with the air and the fan on!
After playing at the park for 1 1/2 hours, it was time for a nice cold ice cream! Look how hot and sweaty they are… too funny. They both picked out some sweet pink ice cream with pink gummy round things as a topping that looked like salmon eggs… totally gross, but they loved it and finished the whole thing!!
DVD players are a MUST in a car when you’re driving more than 5 minutes with kids! Going to the park which was only 7 minutes from the house…. well, I’d be rich if I had a dollar for every time I heard “when will we be there”.
The Discovery Museum - Science and Space Center in Sacramento is awesome for kids. It is totally “hands-on” and a very entertaining day for the kids; I highly recommend it. They have a live animal section with spiders, rabbits, turtles, iguana’s and much more. The kids liked that so much we went there twice.
As you move from the live animal section, absolutely everything is hands-on as you can see.
This was a dinosaur egg that the boys were fascinated with.
Here’s another craft… FROGS, super easy to make.
This was the BEST and biggest hit of all the crafts…
JET PACKS!!
JET PACKS!!
All you need to make these are 2 liter bottles, cardboard, rope/twine, cheapo $1 spray paint can (Walmart/Home Depot), and bright paper or felt for the fire. The kids used markers and stickers to decorate their packs.
Ahhhhh...June! Some good, some bad...all memorable!
