A Visit from the Roos’ August 24–29

They finally arrived… we were so excited to see them!  The last time they were in CA there was a super big fire up north and we experienced over a week of really bad smoke.  On this trip we hit another 107 degree heat wave, so we had to cancel most of outdoor plans.  They’re not going to want to visit CA anymore!!

Although it was hot, we did explore Old Town Sacramento and that was fun.  We also toured big model homes, went to a movie, took a hike, had a dinner party, played games, and did a lot of talking and catching up.

We saw some cool murals in downtown Sac, they were having a festival that weekend.

George & Carol stayed with us from June 21 – 25th.  We had some fun things planned outside but had to cancel almost all events due to the extreme heat of 107 every day.  But we managed to still have fun!

We went to a movie, went wine tasting, actually golfed one day with an early start time, snuck in a couple short early morning hikes in our neighborhood, did a little shopping, and had a dinner party.  Long time friends (from the 70’s & 80’s) together again… good times!!

Celebration Weekend for Papa’s 70th Birthday July 17–19, 2015

I was so excited to have the family together to celebrate Papa’s birthday.  Most of the kids and grandkids were here for the weekend.  We had 2 queen blow up beds for the little kids and they slept on our bedroom floor.  Lauren also had a queen blow up and slept in my craft room.  The rest of us old adults got the real king & queen beds.

I made towel art animals for the kids beds.

I also had mints for the kids and adults on their pillows.

An evening walk would not be complete without tree hugs and somersaults.

Apparently our home gym was a popular place for the kids to play.  Check out Alex’s muscles!

Lauren always brings gifts for her cousins when she visits California.

This is how we got the air out of the 3 blow up beds… the kids had a ball rolling around. 

The aftermath… 6 loads of laundry and 2 days later… LOL

Hank’s party was on Saturday, July 11th and we celebrated with our family and some of our wonderful neighbors.  The party was a super casual BBQ and everyone had a great time.
