Some of you know that my Dad was hospitalized on February 23rd & again on March 1st. He just wouldn't wake up or respond to anything or anyone. After a battery of tests, MRI, brain scans and more, it was determined that he had a series of TIA's (mini strokes) and coupled with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases Dad was sent home under hospice care with only 2-4 weeks to live. He did not wake up, eat or drink anything for 8 days, then on March 8th he just woke up like nothing ever happened. Although it was short lived for only 4 hours, he was able to see his great grandchild for the first time. It has been over 3 months now and although it has been a very slow and difficult process, he just keeps getting stronger. He's eating normally and is awake more as time goes on. He sometimes smiles and at times he can answer a question with a one word response, so we know he understands sometimes. Dad has a wonderful caregiver and hospice has been great! We believe he wants to be around for his 90th birthday on September 11th.
Here is a picture of Dad with Payton in March.
Here's Dad and me on May 31st.
