We spent 2 relaxing weeks in Ocho Rios, Jamaica from April 28th – May 12th. It was hard to select just a few pictures from the hundreds that we took, but here’s a few.
We spent the first 4 nights at all inclusive Sandals Grande Riviera and we had butler service! We didn’t even know it came with butlers until we got there and we had 2 people dedicated to us. We barely used them because we felt kind of funny doing that. It’s not like we can’t swim over to the swim up bar and get our own drink! LOL
Our Anniversary was in April and champagne was waiting for us in our room, nice!
Here’s the view from our balcony. You can see we were a LONG way from the beach; we had to take a shuttle to get there so we usually hung out at the main pool.
One night they had a wonderful “chocolate” event. It was the first time since January that I allowed myself to “cheat” a little and man was it good!!
We were greeted with champagne and the rims on the glasses were chocolate covered… yummy!
There were 2 employees (a woman and man) that were completely covered in chocolate… it was unbelievable!! A ton of people were getting pictures taken with them.
You can see I’m “guilty” eating the chocolate. I didn’t even know it was on my nose; Hank was cracking up and insisted on taking my picture.
Getting ready for an evening out.
There were cats everywhere and made themselves at home… too cute!
We transferred to Jewel Dunn’s River Resort for another 10 nights, also an all inclusive adult resort. They have a 9 hole pitch & putt and it’s really fun. We golfed almost everyday, sometimes playing 18 holes… that’s if we could stand the heat. There were a couple of times my hands were so sweaty that I couldn’t hold on to the club! I know, life is tough… hee-hee-hee.
Where else than Jamaica can you golf in your bikini… LOL. It’s so casual there and anything goes and nobody cares!
This was a beach night party. After dinner on the beach, they had a snake charmer, fire eater, dancers, and a bunch more stuff. Of course they get the audience involved and make them do stuff that they’d never normally do at home. Most people figure they’ll never see these people again so who cares!
Sanya was our favorite hostess, a very nice young lady.
I have to tell you that I kicked ass for the entire 2 weeks, it was so much fun to beat Hank (considering he’s so competitive)!!!
Hanging out at the main “tree bar”
Hank took this picture and I love it! These flowering plants just grew out of the palm trees, very cool.
Here’s the main pool and huge swim up bar. The bar goes all the way around to the other side.
Hanging out at the pool
The day time entertainment staff are crazy people, but they know how to get the guests involved. It was always fun to hang out at the pool and either watch or get involved in the activities.
Kitties everywhere at this resort too and I made sure I found all of them.
This cat is “Tom Tom” and he was everywhere on the property. He was the best cat and very well known with the staff & guests… friendly and loved to be petted. All the guests loved Tom Tom.
We went to this bar every night and the bartender knew our drink preferences and made them just to our liking.
This is a local steel band and they were awesome!!!! They performed twice during our stay. The first time they played for 1 1/2 hours and the second time was over 2 hours without a break!! They are so talented and put on a great show. They even did acrobatic moves on the dance floor as part of their show.
Here is a short video of their talent.
One of our favorite places to eat is the Aquamarina Beach Bar & Grill, where bare feet and bathing suits are welcomed. It’s very casual with a few things on the menu and it has a full bar. You stand up at the counter, place your order, and as you wait you meet other people while drinking your cocktail. They have the best french fries!!! Hank loved the jerk chicken. They are open almost 24 hours so you can slam a burger & fries at 2am if you so desire. Not that we’ve ever done that…. yes we have!
We ate at the Jade Samurai 3 times because it was so good and the chef was “Awesome”… literally his name was Awesome. He put on a great show and the food was really good.
Hank met someone, he named her “Jamie” (short for Jamaica) and he really liked her!
We met a wonderful couple, Rod & Lauren, and hung out with them for a few days. Too bad they live on the other side of the U.S. because we got along so good with them. If we’re ever in New York we’ll look them up for sure.
Here is the main “Tree Bar” that is only open at night. Unless of course there is a rain storm during the day and all the other bars close down, then this bar is hopping during the day.
We saw this peacock everywhere on the property. He made himself at home in the bars, on the roofs, in the hallways, you name it and he was there.
Here I am doing Zumba on the main pool deck on 2 different days. It was so much fun, but man was it HOT!!! After working out for the 1/2 hour class, I immediately jumped in the pool in an effort to save my life!
The Zumba workout was actually a water aerobics activity, but a few of us did it on the pool deck. Here is a short video.
Our housekeeper (Ava) was very creative with the towel art. Everyday we had something new on our bed, thank you Ava!!
